6 Essential Design Tips from a Seasoned Kitchen and Bathroom Expert

We are thrilled to welcome Wendy Hart to our team! With an impressive 9 years of experience in kitchen and bathroom design, Wendy’s expertise will be a fantastic addition to our Design team.

Here are some of her favorite things she suggests her clients think about when creating a new kitchen design.

  1. Prioritize the Work Triangle
  2. Keep the sink, stove, and refrigerator—the kitchen’s three primary work zones—within a comfortable distance of each other. This classic “work triangle” minimizes unnecessary steps and improves efficiency while cooking.
  3. Maximize Storage with Smart Solutions
  4. Don’t waste vertical space—extend cabinets to the ceiling and use pull-out pantry shelves, corner carousels, and drawer organizers. Clever storage makes even small kitchens feel spacious and functional.
  5. Layer Lighting for Function and Mood
  6. Use a mix of task lighting (under-cabinet LEDs), ambient lighting (ceiling fixtures), and accent lighting (pendants or in-cabinet lights). This not only enhances usability but also creates a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Wendy’s passion for kitchen and bath design sets her apart; she truly views it as her calling. As a master of 2020 Design software, she excels at creating stunning 3D renderings that bring her clients’ visions to life.

When creating bathroom designs she recommended a few things to consider.

  1. Focus on Functional Layout First
  2. Before choosing finishes, ensure the layout makes sense—allow enough clearance for doors and drawers, and keep the toilet discreetly placed, ideally not the first thing you see when the door opens.
  3. Use Light and Mirrors to Expand Space
  4. In small bathrooms, maximize natural light if possible, and use large mirrors to reflect both light and space. A well-placed mirror can make a compact bathroom feel much more open.
  5. Choose Materials That Handle Moisture Well
  6. Prioritize durable, water-resistant finishes like porcelain tile, quartz countertops, and sealed wood. Proper ventilation (like a good exhaust fan) is just as essential to keep materials looking fresh over time.

What makes Wendy exceptional is her dedication to genuinely understanding her clients. She engages them with thoughtful questions—like whether they are left- or right-handed, how often they bake, their entertaining habits, and who takes on more cooking in the household.

By delving deep into her clients’ lifestyles, Wendy crafts custom designs that not only meet their needs but also inspire joy and functionality in their Kitchens and Bathooms.. We can’t wait for you to experience Wendy’s creativity and commitment firsthand!
